Wine Tasting & Auction: June 4th, 2009
Another Great Wine Tasting & Auction at the Putnam House!
As usual, the Putnam House Wine Tasting & Auction on June 4th was an entertaining, successful event. Although it was rather chilly outside, the front lawn was filled with wine-tasting stations and crowds of appreciative people.
...but most participants simply warmed up with great-tasting wines donated by Happy Harry's of Fargo.
...wines, such as: Barefoot Bubbly White Zinfandel (CA); Polka Dot Medium Sweet Riesling (Germany); Red Bicyclette Rose (France); Ghost Pines Cabernet Sauvignon (Calif.); Davinci Pinot Grigio (Italy)...
The music of Jon Crowston and Kerry Wicks from Jamestown provided a perfect background to the overall ambiance of the occasion.
...and provided with more wines and scrumptious appetizers.
Not only could they enjoy wine as they visited...
...but they could take a close look at all the creative gift baskets that would be offered at the auction.
...introduced Ed Irion as the auctioneer...
... and bidding began.
The gift baskets donated by members of the Carrington community were wonderfully creative and enticing...
...A Champagne Brunch offered by Marlene and Bob Scott; A Fabulous Fishing Day at Devil's Lake guided by Chris Augustine; A Beer Drinkin' WE Fest Basket offered by Alison Schumann and Century 21 Heritage Realty; A Handyman's Basket compliments of Central City Lumber and The Little Store; and many more creative concoctions were auctioned off to the audience.

As the evening drew to a close, one could hear many voices of appreciation... saying thank-you's to Alison, her crew, and everyone who donated gift baskets.
The Historical Society who provides the upkeep for the Putnam House, is most appreciative of a generous community who supports their endeavors. As their brochure says, "Proceeds from this event will be used to further develop and enhance the cultural opportunities for the people in the surrounding area."
Alison says to look forward to a Beer Fest later this summer!!
