Heavy Traffic in Carrington:

The following article by Ben Rodgers was published April 14, 2012, in the Jamestown Sun:

City gets business from Oil Patch, agriculture and other traffic - It is estimated that nearly 3,000 trucks drive through Carrington, N.D., on a daily basis according to a North Dakota Department of Transportation official.

CARRINGTON, N.D. — The Stop N’ Go here just north of the intersection of U.S. Highways 281 and 52 is a good barometer for the “Central City” in general.  The oil boom coupled with agriculture and related industries have turned this small town of slightly more than 2,000 into a major North Dakota crossroads.  More...

North Dakota Grows by about 3,500

By The Associated Press - Bismarck

New census estimates show North Dakota grew by about 3,500 people over the past year. As of July First, the state's population was at 641,481. That's up from 637,907 a year earlier.  The increase is less than half of one percent.
State Data Center Director Richard Rathge says the state still ranks 48th in population, but he says North Dakota has grown in four of the past five years.
The census estimates show North Dakota had 9,014 births compared with 5,349 deaths from July 2007 to July 2008. Rathge said the number of births in the state has increased since mid-decade, reversing a nearly 30-year trend.
He says the state ranks No. 1 as having ``the most stable population in the country. He says North Dakota has not seen a population swing of more than 40,000 since 1930.

Vikings Kleinsasser Leaves Lasting Legacy

at Alma Mater

by Michelle Knoll - KSTP.com 01/02/2012

Former Vikings Jim Kleinsasser is going to leave a lasting legacy off the field long after he's done playing.

The former University of North Dakota player presented a $10,000 scholarship to 17-year-old Jacob Greenmyer after Sunday's game.

Greenmyer will attend UND in the fall. He is a cancer survivor who plans to use that money to pursue a career in medicine. More than 250 people applied for the scholarship.

Sunday was Kleinsasser's final game after a 13 year career with the Vikings.
