MARCH EVENTS
Just for Kix Dance Classes March 4th Registration 5-7pm Bauer Fitness Center - Carrington Classes start on March 11th for this popular activity, so you need to register right away by March 4th. The classes, which are offered to K through 12-th graders, take place at the Bauer Fitness Center on Thursday evenings. Call Lauren Lutman for more information at 650-1706.
Nick Erfle Memorial Snowmobile Ride March 6th - Noon Registration Sykeston Community Center Fire Hall This event is sponsored by the Dakota Country Blasters Snowmobile Club, in honor of Nick Erfle, a police officer who was shot in the line of duty. There is a $20 entry fee which includes lunch and supper. All proceeds will be donated to the North Dakota Fallen Officers Memorial in Bismarck. Pledges can be sent to the club at 1595 1st Street North, Carrington, ND 58421.
Eat Smart, Play Hard The North Dakota Dietetic Association is sponsoring a poster contest to educate and promote the idea of living a heart-healthy lifestyle. It's open to youth (ages 8-10, as of September 1, 2009). The poster must be about the importance of healthy food choices and regular physical exercise with a focus on heart health. All entries must be postmarked by March 15th. Click here to find out all the details about the contest.
Putnam House Cooking Classes CHS Home Economics Room Instructed by Blayne Doty of New Rockford, this two-part cooking series is limited to 16 people, and the cost is $30 per person for the series. The first session is titled, "Let's Do Brunch," and the second session on March 17th is titled, "South of the Border." Participants get to watch, learn, taste and take home all the recipes! SPRING DINNER Sunday, March 14th: 4-7pm Sacred Heart Catholic Church 663 1st Street South As always, the cooks from Sacred Heart are offering a great supper for one of their special occasions: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, corn dinner roll, relishes, dessert and coffee. Pancake Day Tuesday, March 16th 7am - 7pm Sacred Heart Parrish Hall Treat yourself and your family to a great pancake meal. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, the profits from this event go toward community projects.

Carrington Youth Pageant Saturday, April 10th Carrington Elementary School April 10th will be here before you know it! So, contestants for the Youth Pageant should be getting their acts together. Metal Stamping 101 & Glass artist and metal smith Tamra (Klocke) Kriedman of Just for you Jewelry and Beads will return to the Putnam House April 30 and May 1 to teach Metal Stamping 101 and Advanced Jewelry Making along with featuring a public trunk show. This is the Carrington native’s second year teaching this class at the Putnam House. Class sizes will be limited and more information will follow. Jose Cole Circus Tuesday, April 13th The Armory - Carrington The Carrington Kiwanis Club will sponsor the Jose Cole Circus again this year. They will be selling tickets to the event until April 12th. Just check with any member of the Kiwanis Club for tickets.
Foster County Fair June 15 - 17 Carrington It's never too early to get ready for the fair! There are all kinds of exciting events, contests and activities that take place. This year the Mighty Thomas Carnival will be back again, offering all kinds of rides and booths that will test your skill. Also, it's a great time to win a prize for that great recipe that everyone loves so much! Just be sure to enter before the deadline!
ROLLER SKATING at the Carrington Armory Through April 9th This is a great place to exercise and have fun on Friday nights from October 23rd, 2009, through April 9th, 2010. Just remember, all roller blades need to have soft or urethane wheels. Skating for beginners will be from 6-7pm, and from 7-9pm for 1st graders to adults. BRINGS PATRICK KASPER TO New Rockford SCHOOL International choreographer & presenter Patrick Kasper is coming to New Rockford, where he will be organizing and choreographing a schoolwide dance and music performance called Dance Jam 2010.Patrick's participation is part of an "artist in residence" program, in association with the North Dakota Council on the Arts (http://www.nd.gov/arts/) and the Dakota Prairie Regional center for the Arts (http://dprca.com). The program is designed to bring local and regional artists and performers to schools.His week long visit to the school will be highlighted by the Dance Jam 2010 performance on Monday February 1st at 7:30pm in the NR-S Gymnasium.
