     Classes start on March 11th for this popular activity, so you need to register right away by March 4th.  The classes, which are offered to K through 12-th graders, take place at the Bauer Fitness Center on Thursday evenings.  Call Lauren Lutman for more information at 650-1706.

Snowmobile Ride

Sykeston Community Center Fire Hall

      This event is sponsored by the Dakota Country Blasters Snowmobile Club, in honor of Nick Erfle, a police officer who was shot in the line of duty.  There is a $20 entry fee which includes lunch and supper.  All proceeds will be donated to the North Dakota Fallen Officers Memorial in Bismarck.  Pledges can be sent to the club at 1595 1st Street North, Carrington, ND 58421.

 

Eat Smart, Play Hard
Poster Contest
Deadline: March 15th

     The North Dakota Dietetic Association is sponsoring a poster contest to educate and promote the idea of living a heart-healthy lifestyle. It's open to youth (ages 8-10, as of September 1, 2009). The poster must be about the importance of healthy food choices and regular physical exercise with a focus on heart health. All entries must be postmarked by March 15th. Putnam House Cooking Classes
March 10 & 17th

CHS Home Economics Room

     Instructed by Blayne Doty of New Rockford, this two-part cooking series is limited to 16 people, and the cost is $30 per person for the series.  The first session is titled, "Let's Do Brunch," and the second session on March 17th is titled, "South of the Border."   Participants get to watch, learn, taste and take home all the recipes!  For more information or to register, call Alison Schumann, Putnam House Coordinator, at 701-652-2090.

Advanced Jewelry Making Classes

     Glass artist and metal smith Tamra (Klocke) Kriedman of Just for you Jewelry and Beads will return to the Putnam House April 30 and May 1 to teach Metal Stamping 101 and Advanced Jewelry Making along with featuring a public trunk show. This is the Carrington native’s second year teaching this class at the Putnam House. Class sizes will be limited and more information will follow.      It's never too early to get ready for the fair!  There are all kinds of exciting events, contests and activities that take place.  This year the Mighty Thomas Carnival will be back again, offering all kinds of rides and booths that will test your skill.  Also, it's a great time to win a prize for that great recipe that everyone loves so much!  Just be sure to enter before the deadline! 

 

 

ROLLER SKATING

at the Carrington Armory

      This is a great place to exercise and have fun on Friday nights from October 23rd, 2009, through April 9th, 2010.  Just remember, all roller blades need to have soft or urethane wheels.  Skating for beginners will be from 6-7pm, and from 7-9pm for 1st graders to adults.  Skating is scheduled for every Friday evening through April 9th.  For more information, call Treckers: 251-1177 or 285-3581.

     International choreographer & presenter Patrick Kasper is coming to New Rockford, where he will be organizing and choreographing a schoolwide dance and music performance called Dance Jam 2010.Patrick's participation is part of an "artist in residence" program, in association with the North Dakota Council on the Arts (http://www.nd.gov/arts/) and the Dakota Prairie Regional center for the Arts (http://dprca.com). The program is designed to bring local and regional artists and performers to schools.His week long visit to the school will be highlighted by the Dance Jam 2010 performance on Monday February 1st at 7:30pm in the NR-S Gymnasium.
