"Get ready for some great Bluegrass music and join the Putnam House on Monday, July 21 for Brats and Bluegrass featuring the Cotton Wood band.
Called ‘North Dakota’s Bluegrass Band’ by art publications, Cotton Wood performs in many bluegrass festivals in the four state regional area of North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana. They play a variety of music using traditional bluegrass instruments including mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, banjo and dobro.
Their music consists of lively bluegrass and popular to country flavored music as their trademark.
Based in the Washburn, ND area, Cotton Wood is made up of Dan Foster on mandolin and guitar, Keith Koch on guitar, Jill Wiese on bass, mandolin and guitar and Lee Benjamin on banjo, dobro and guitar. Add great vocals to the instruments, and you have a great bluegrass band
The summer concert series begins at 7 p.m. with brats being served beginning at 6 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket.
Cost for the event, which includes a brat, beverage and entertainment, is just $5.00
This event is supported in part through a grant from the ND Council on the Arts Council on the Arts which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts."

Brats & Bluegrass - 2008

Good food, pleasant music and a beautiful evening!  If you didn't get to the Brats & Bluegrass event at the Putnam House on Monday night, July 21st, you missed out on an enjoyable evening.

The brats must have been scrumptious, because even after selling over a hundred, the servers still faced a long line of anticipatory eaters.

Quite a large crowd gathered on the Putnam House lawn, enjoying their brats and finding a good place to sit for the upcoming concert by Cottonwood.

Cottonwood, noted for using traditional bluegrass instruments, played a variety of bluegrass and country-flavored tunes... tunes that were greatly enjoyed by the Carrington audience.

Introducing Cottonwood... Jill Wiese-bass/mandolin/guitar, Lee Benjamin-banjo/dobro/guitar. Keith Koch-guitar, Dan Foster-mandolin/guitar.

A big THANKS to everyone who helped put this Putnam House event together! Also, thanks to community members who continue to support Putnam House activities.  Because of you, we can look forward to ongoing, entertaining events sponsored by the Carrington Historical Society.
